A senior moment…
The Other Half and I were continuing with the fencing today.
With the strainers in, the intermediate posts in, and the bottom and top wires strung, the next task was to hang the stock netting.
We rolled out the first piece, which only covered three quarters of the required distance so I went off to find another length.
Of course, that meant letting the other piece roll up again. No bother, we’d just unroll it again later.
I found the additional netting, carried it to the other end of the fence line, and then returned to the first roll.
I unrolled the first roll, stood it up against the fence, and wired it into place around the first strainer.
Next, I secured the netting to the top wire with short pieces of bailing wire (normally we use hog clips but we were out of them).
Confident we were motoring along nicely, I went to join the next piece of netting to the first one.
The OH lifted up the second section for me while I went to start wiring the two together.
And stopped.
The spacing between the horizontal wires wasn’t right.
The netting to the left had big voids at the top, the netting to the right had little ones.
I’d hung the first length of netting upside down!
It had been right way up, but when I’d let it coil again and later unrolled it, the top and bottom had switched about.
Talk about a senior moment.
The OH was most amused by my having erected an upside down fence.
When I pointed out she’d missed the error as well she just smirked, then pointed out she was just the helper.
I was the one making the decisions.
Funny isn’t it, how when things go right it’s because she makes the decisions and when they go wrong it’s because I do.
Hmm.
Senior moments and impudent women. What a combination…

Ahhh….Stoney, the facts of life are upon you as you enjoy your senior (?) moments…. chuckle!
bet you both shared a good laugh – that’s worth the price right there.
Took me ages to actually realise that there was an up and a down on stock fencing…duh!
Suppose if I was joining two like you I might have learnt a little earlier.
I’m saying nothing, …..’cos Compostman might be reading this!!
We fenced 20m upside down at our last place, didn’t realise till we were finished. We told anyone who noticed that we did it on purpose!
