Ah, this the life! Graham, our senior Berkshire boar, takes his turn in the wallow. He was a little disappointed that I wouldn't give him a back rub when he finally emerged...

Daisy looks for somewhere to scratch. All the pigs enjoy a good rub and scratch after using the wallow, with Daisy preferring the edge of the corrugated iron covering the pig arc. Graham has a rubbing stake—a four-foot fence post driven into the ground until only six inches shows—while Delilah uses the door frame of the pig arc.

Those are some massive pigs! You must be feeding them right.
Both Daisy and Delilah are in pig. Daisy’s about 50 days along, Delilah about 10.
But yes, they’re well fed and looked after. They’re on dirt at the moment as I brought them in from one field but haven’t had time to fence the next one.
It’s the school holidays here now, though, so I’m planning to get the Other Half out over the next week or two to help me do the fencing. Then the pigs will be out on grass again.
In the meantime, I cut them fresh grass every day and throw them thinnings from the vegetable beds.
They are looking good Stoney, Graham especially and he reminds me of my days as a “Pig” in the 7th Bn RAR as an infantryman! (A pig being our mascot, but that is another story).
Although I do not think we were as happy as he clearly is in the mud.
That first one particularly looks like a very happy pig! I’ve just started a new job based in a local city farm so I get to see pigs most days now. Our farm’s Daisy though is a rabbit!
Great looking pigs. Popular name, Daisy- we have a sheep called Daisy.
Our breeding boars have names starting with “G”, so Graham and Gus.
Our breeding gilts and sows have names starting with “D”, so Delilah, Doris, Dolores, Daisy and Daphne.
Why? Guys and Dolls.
Animals being kept for meat get named depending on their character and the whims of our boys. Some get named, some don’t. We’ve had Honey, Crackle, Thunderpig, Half-pint, Rocket, Griffle and Gruffle, and more.
Unlike some people, we have no problems eating named animals.
