It’s not melting fast enough for some…

The chickens are getting fed up with the snow
The chickens were not best pleased when I turfed them out of their comfy, warm house today so I could muck it out and disinfect it. I might have cleared some paths through the snow and put down some extra feed, but it just wasn’t good enough. So when I wanted to take a photo of them in the snow, the ISA Browns and the Scots Greys all withdrew to the back of the pen and sulked.
Daisy soon found somewhere to dig
Daisy, one of our Berkshire sows, has been less than pleased with the snow as well. It’s been so deep that her teats—which haven’t tucked back up since her piglets were taken away—kept dragging through the cold snow, making her shudder and jump whenever she ventured out of her hut. But today’s sunshine meant the depth of the snow had reduced by this afternoon and she soon found a good spot for a spot of digging. And one where she wouldn’t suffer the indignity of frozen teats!

And our chooks think they’ve had it bad in a strong south-westerly with accompanying horizontal rain!
