Piglets, Beavers and Cubs!

As Delilah appeared to have delivered all the piglets from one horn of her uterus, I decided to chance it and race in to the village with the Other Half and the Wee ‘Un to the Big Lad’s Swimming Up from Beavers to Cubs.
We told the leaders why we were in a hurry, but these things like to move at their own pace.
Still, we managed to get away within 20 minutes of arriving and be back home in 25.
I dashed back in to the byre to find an afterbirth amongst the straw (confirming my theory that Delilah had delivered all the piglets from one horn) and with an eighth piglet emerging.
I’ve just time for a quick update from the laptop while I wait for the next piglet.
Looks like takeaway for dinner tonight. Sigh.
I have a freezer full of fresh pork, some more lovely pork waiting to cook, and we don’t have the time to anything with it.
Congratulations to Big Lad…I was in the Life Boys/Boys Brigade myself, but these things are important!
The Big Lad was very pleased as he received his Animal Friendship and Science badges before moving up. He’s also done a lot of work for the Model badge, so hopefully he’ll be given that in the next few weeks, too.
For his Animal Friendship badge, he kept a journal on taking his pig from farrowing through to slaughter. A wee bit different to the “I have a pet guinea pig” journal, apparently!
Time to teach him to sew. He’ll be needing to put all those Beaver badges on to a camp blanket in time for Summer Camp!
