Settling in for another litter

We brought Delilah, one of our Berkshire sows, inside yesterday evening and she’s spent the day settling in to the farrowing pen. It’s familiar territory for her as this will be her third litter farrowed in the pen and she was quite pleased to move into her nesting place.

Lego with attitude

While searching the web for parts for one of the Big Lad’s Lego kits, I stumbled across a custom mini-figure that led me to a whole new realm of Lego with attitude.

BrickArms make very detailed firearms, grenades, RPGs and accessories (Uzi in a brief case for your secret agent Lego figures?), plus a range of customised Mini-Figs that are based on stock Lego parts.

But the one that caught my eye was the K9 Kop, a heavily armed police dog handler with land shark.

The Other Half has a “woman moment”…

We have pancakes (aka drop scones or pikelets) for our Sunday breakfast, which entails me making batches of pancakes while the Other Half and the boys tuck in to the earlier ones.

Today, we had to start a new jar of jam so the Wee ‘Un picked a jar of clearly labelled Gooseberry and Elderflower from the larder cupboard, then took it to the table.

As I was cooking, I noticed the Other Half trying to lever open the lid of the jam with a knife, which is not a good idea as it distorts the lid and makes it impossible to re-use in the future. It’s also dangerous.
