Winther Kangaroo Bike — the one-year review

After 12 months in the saddle doing 10-15 miles a day, I can confidently say the Winther Kangaroo bike is something of a curate’s egg, although the good far outweighs the bad.

First, the obvious.

The Kangaroo is definitely designed for transporting one or two children at low speeds in areas with few or no hills, but it is from Denmark, after all. Read the rest of this entry »





New Scottish cycling forum

CTC Scotland has launched a new web forum to bring Scotland’s cyclists together online.

As the first post was only made six days ago, there’s nothing happening as yet but hopefully it will grow into something useful and informative without degenerating into the spats and feuds that bedevil many forums.

The forum has sections covering general discussions, practical cycling (that’s me, then), off-road, training, campaigning (watch out bad drivers), local groups, Scottish futures and government council liaison.

It looks like there’s something for everyone, so I’ll be looking in from time to time to see if it does develop.





Nefarious goings on

When I was out feeding the pigs just before 7am, I thought I heard a low-pitched whistle further out into the field.

I shone the torch around but as the battery is old, the beam was quite feeble and I couldn’t see anything.

I was about to put the noise down to a bird when the sky brightened slightly, enough that I could see a person silhouetted against the northern skyline. Read the rest of this entry »
