What to put in a lunchbox?

Apple pockets for lunch

It’s the day before we do our fortnightly shopping, we’ve run short of milk, cheese and fruit but only have enough cash for two out of three items at the local shop.

The choice is an easy one to make. Since the village shop was bought and added to a chain, the quality of the fresh produce has dived so I buy milk and cheese.

But that also leaves a gap in the lunchboxes as I like to give everyone some fruit to eat during the day. Read the rest of this entry »

A stitch in time

15 01 2008

It’s not all farming, gardening, brewing, cooking and building on the croft.

I’ve spent most of the morning sewing badges on the Big Lad’s Beaver’s sweatshirt, repairing various shirt collars and cuffs, and closing up a couple of rips in trousers.

As we don’t have a sewing machine, it’s all done by hand and takes a little longer to do but it’s quite an enjoyable change of pace.

It’s also much warmer than working outside on day that started with a hard frost and is continuing with light rain.

I’ve just finished up for the moment as I have lunch to prepare for the Wee ‘Un and I, then it’s off to swimming.
