Pillar to post and back again

My dental woes continued today, taking a massive six hours out of our day just to confirm what I’ve known all along and be sent back to the beginning of the whole sorry process again.

As I can’t drive far with my fractured collarbone still healing, the Other Half had to take a day off work to drive me to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s Maxillofacial Unit, an hour’s drive from the croft.

On top of that, the appointment was for 1345, so that meant we had to have the Wee ‘Un home from nursery bang on time at 1140, eat a quick lunch, scoop the Big Lad up from school at 1230 (two hours early), and fill the Land Rover with diesel for the second time this week. Use multi-use cloth bags for shopping

I’m about to annoy many people and provoke a flurry of correspondence from the amateur statisticans and pedants by suggesting ways of reducing over-consumption, reducing individual environmental footprints and making an individual contribution to treating producers and works more fairly.

I’ve generally steered clear of making direct suggestions to date, preferring to show what we do and why without saying “do this”, “do that”.

However, I get frequent emails, comments and forum messages from people asking what they should do, asking for more direction, and asking how they can make a difference. Read the rest of this entry »





Making cards

The boys get to work on their cards

The boys enjoy making cards for special occasions so when we came across a couple of packs of DIY Father Christmas cards in a supermarket sale, they were very excited and asked if they could have these instead of blank card. I agreed and tonight they set to work on the cards, taking them far beyond what the manufacturers intended.
