The Evening Express coverage

A police media liaison officer telephoned me yesterday to see if I’d help track the driver of the van that hit me by taking part in a media appeal.

Of course I agreed, so the story has already been aired on local radio and now the Evening Express has run the story.

The Press & Journal are planning a story for Monday’s edition, so hopefully the appeal will turn up a witness to the accident.

Oh, and there a few errors in the Express story, but the gist of it is correct.





Help needed with safety kit

Staying visible and safe as a cyclist is an expensive business, especially when you have to factor in the extremes of weather we have here in North-East Scotland.

We’ve been gradually adding more kit to the Kangaroo bike on a month by month, money permitting basis but Wednesday’s crash has thrown our budget out the window.

A fair amount of safety and weather equipment has been damaged or destroyed, while we’d also like to buy the remaining equipment in one batch so that when I’m back on the road I’m lit up like a Christmas tree. Read the rest of this entry »





There’s always a funny side

The Other Half took me in to see the optician yesterday, for reasons unconnected to the accident, and then around to the supermarket to buy some replacement trousers for the ones ripped in Wednesday’s cycle crash.

I found a pair of cotton twill trousers that weren’t too bad as supermarket trousers go and proceeded to try them on.

Once I’d found a size that fitted tolerably, I needed the Other Half’s help to get dressed again, particularly to get my boots on and laced. Read the rest of this entry »





An interesting thought

A lovely blogger who goes by the name of PurpleDragon has posted an interesting comment on the NEEPS forum that, for me at least, sheds some light on the vitriol that some people send my way.

I should explain in advance that I’ve met PurpleDragon, a previous rescuer of ours, and was very impressed as she’s one of the few people I’ve met who matches my appetite for getting things done. (Cassie who visited yesterday is another.)
