Ooooooooh!

It’s Guy Fawkes Night and that means it’s one of those few times when we burn a little cash just for the fun of it. A £10 box of quiet fireworks - with livestock we don’t have rockets, bombs or anything that shrieks and squeals - goes a long way in entertaining a couple of small boys - and their parents!

Is charity about financial gain?

Charity makes you wealthier. It’s a statement that sounds good on the materialistic, self-gain level - if you give money away, more comes back to you and you’ll feel like a better person to boot.

But is that what charity is really about?

A dental appointment at last!

I was rather surprised to find a letter from NHS Grampian in the letterbox this morning, and even more surprised to learn that I’ve finally been granted an appointment at Aberdeen Royal Infirmay’s Maxillofacial Unit.

Of course, it’s not until December 17 and, as the covering pamphlet notes, I will not get any treatment as my name will then go forward to the next waiting list.

But, I will get to have an X-ray and a consultant will then confirm that I do indeed have a serious dental abscess that needs treatment. Read the rest of this entry »
