That should hold the wall in place

Tracy Greaves of TLG Builders of Natural Stone is no slouch. She popped over on Sunday to recheck the damaged wall with one of her masons and to promise action with the wall. Sure enough, today I had the insurers grovelling and apologising profusely on the phone, while two masons came over to brace the wall and stop further movement.

Another view of the bracing

The masons cleared away the rubble, tidied up the wall, and then stabilised with both the gable and back wall with a stout set of props. They also eased the weight of the roof off the walls with Accro jacks, being careful not to actually jack the roof itself up. They were very fast and efficient, and it should keep the wall from moving until we can get repairs authorised and carried out. The next step is to await a loss adjuster, who will be out on Friday afternoon (apparently they lost our contact details, huh!).

What a relief. At least you’re not moving backwards again.
Take care.
