Onion and green pepper relish

Before I detail this recipe, a warning. Do not attempt to cut up half a kilogram of small onions unless you have a lot of time on your hands, unless you are a serious masochist who enjoys crying for a very long time, and unless you have a Main Squeeze who doesn’t mind you smelling of onions!

Freshly picked from the vegetable patch

I spent several hours working in the vegetable beds today, doing a final thinning of the carrots, turnips and cabbages among other things. As it was pouring rain, fairly cold and very windy, it was definitely going to be soup for dinner using some of the thinnings as the basis.
