Every brewer needs an assistant

The spiced potato wine was ready to be racked off for its second fermentation today, and who better to do the job than the Chief Assistant Master Brewer, aka the Wee ‘Un. It takes quite a while for the wine to drain from one vat to another, but the Wee ‘Un loves the job so much he stands there happily singing until the racking is complete.

New case of FMD confirmed

My sense of unease at the foot-and-mouth disease restrictions being lifted in full so quickly has unfortunately been proved correct.

The BBC has just published a story saying the Government’s Chief Vet has confirmed a new case of FMD at a farm in Surrey.

All the movement restrictions are now back in place and livestock farming around the UK will again face a major hiatus while the situation is sorted out.
