Farrowing in progress
4 09 2007
Delilah started delivering her piglets around 8.00pm and by 8.50pm had farrowed seven live ones.We had a long delay until another live one arrived at 9.50pm, quickly followed by one that wasn’t breathing.
I quickly cleared its airway, gave it a couple of swings and then blew into its mouth.
Bingo! A sudden jerk and then a squeal announced we now had nine live piglets.
After another hour, we had 11 live piglets and two afterbirths, which is an excellent result while Delilah is also doing well.

8.13pm Two piglets delivered in quick succession brought the total to four.

9.09pm saw seven piglets all doing well.

10.22pm and we were up to nine piglets.

11.27pm saw the final two delivered, with both afterbirths.

11.27pm and all 11 piglets had found a nipple to suck on while Delilah took a well-earned nap. I kept an eye on her for a while before heading in to update the blog, and will do a final check just after midnight. Then it will be up early again.

That’s beautiful. Well done Delilah. They look very healthy.
They are cute piggies Uncle Stonehead, we saw a lady with a piglet in a shopping bag at the produce store, it was funny.
The children can’t wait to see them in a few weeks
Oh wow! Well done to mommy Delilah!! Thanks for sharing these pics with us.

Super pictures….super blog. I’m so glad you relented and came back to blogging!!!!
Well done, Delilah! Stoney’s efforts at midwifery sure beat my efforts at being late for the birth of our latest litter of 5 tiny Mini Foxie puppies, which were all of three inches long, if that.
Great work, Delilah! Your little piggies look great. I will share these wonderful photos with the kids tonight. Great first-aid skills, too Stoney!
Hurrah for Delilah!!!
Well done Delilah and Stoney!
They all look so healthy!…. only just had the news… been away for a couple of days and this was my first stop on returning home to see how the farrowing had gone.
Fantastic news !!
