Respect where respect is due

13 08 2007

I read and hear a lot of rubbish directed at emergency services personnel by people who really should know better.

The sort of people who knock police officers, firefighters, ambulance technicians and paramedics when they rightly point out the job is stressful, tough, hard, unrelenting and poorly recompensed (in terms of pay, acknowledgement and respect).

The sort of people who say if the job is too tough for the emergency personnel, they should get out and get another job. If they want more money, they should get up and get a “proper” job that pays “proper” money.

To those people, I say read Trauma Queen’s post, You are No. 3, and honestly ask yourself if you really think dedicated people like him don’t deserve more respect, acknowledgment and recompense for what they do for us.

Do you honestly want him and the many others like him to stop caring for and protecting you and yours?

I read your post and went to find Kal. It’s indeed a great blog, beautifully written.

Sadly, there was a reference on the Welsh news tonight of another dreadful example of mindless people using their energies in a totally inappropriate direction.

See it here: http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/news/wales-news/2007/11/19/community-s-shock-at-attack-on-paramedics-91466-20127695/

Oops, that is a bit long… I hope it fits on your page?
