The croft on St Swithin’s Day

It’s St Swithin’s Day today and according to the old rhyme:
St Swithin’s Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin’s Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t’will rain no more.
Personally, I suspect that while we have sunshine today, only the fourth day of sunshine since the end of April, it will be followed by overcast and damp days.
Given that sunshine has been so rarely seen up here of late, we decided we should take the opportunity to document the current state of the croft, starting with the boys inspecting our new breeding house (above) for our Scots Greys chickens. Read the rest of this entry »
