Food to make small boys hum!

I needed to use up the last few trotters from our last batch of pork before starting on the two half pigs we had slaughtered a couple of weeks back.

As we don’t often have indulgent treats with exotic ingredients, I decided to pull out all the stops tonight and make something that I was sure the boys in particular would enjoy.

The first job was to split the trotters into small-hand sized portions. Not having a heavy cleaver, I went out to the workshop and got the next best thing - my side axe!

Let the digging commence

The first bed ready for sowing.
The first prepared bed of the year. We overwintered artichokes in this bed under a deep layer of straw so the bed had to be thoroughly forked over to find every remaining one. If I’ve missed even artichoke the bed will be taken over by them. This bed will be one of four used to grow onions, shallots, beetroot, parsnips and carrots.
