Two weaners gone, eight to go

Two of our Berkshire/Tamworth cross weaner gilts left for their new home this afternoon.

They’ll be moving to a smallholding near Old Meldrum, ostensibly to be fattened for the table, but we got the distinct impression that these two girls are going to be more pets than porkers.

All five members of the family who bought the pair were much more sentimental, hands on and touchy feely than we are with animals we’re going to eat - and we’re already “softer” than almost all our neighbouring farmers.
