Don’t expect much today

15 02 2007

I won’t be posting much today or tomorrow as it’s sausage making time.

That means preparing 40-50 pounds of pork (removing the skin, some of the fat and cutting it into strips), mincing it, preparing sausage casings, inventing new seasonings, and stuffing sausages all day for two days straight.

The boys and I thoroughly enjoy ourselves while the vegetarian Other Half disappears outside to shovel muck!

Don’t worry, she says she enjoys moving muck as it’s zen-like and therapeutic…

Perhaps we should charge people to come and shift the muck for us. Anyone for muck yoga with Yogi Stonehead? :D

Just grabbing a late lunch having finished the first batch of sausages - 5lb of Stonehead Breakfast sausages. We have another five pound of mince waiting to go for the next batch of sausages (peppered pork), and then I’ll have to slice and mince another 10lb. Then it will be another 20lb tomorrow.

It’s very enjoyable except for one thing. We have to keep the house and pork as cold as possible, so no heating, windows open and par-frozen meat while working in shirt sleeves. Brrrr!

Ì agree with her. I find repetitive tasks like that to be enjoyable as my mind can wander.

mmmm yum, it must be satisfying preparing your own food like that.
We have lots of horse poo to be shovelled, if Linda would like some more zen time. I prefer grooming to shovelling!

Yes, OH come down to Australia, we have lots of dingo poo to clean up on a regular basis ….. a wonderfully relaxing job as they cavort around you, especially Buffy.
