Teetering on the brink

If you live in Scotland, then you may be well advised to check your preparations for an electricity blackout after an accident disabled one of the country’s main coal-fired power stations.

A conveyor belt that carries coal to Longannet power station, near Fife, collapsed and forced the station to shut down.

This should not have been a major problem except that the nuclear-powered Hunterston B power station is also shut down, due to safety concerns.

Goodbye Ginger

Our Tamworth boar, Ginger, left today for his new home on the island of Raasay.

His new owner Paul, and son Ross, drove over yesterday and stayed the night before loading up Ginger this morning for the long journey back.

Paul’s a great bloke - not only does he driver an immaculate older Defender but he also insisted on repairing the handbrake on mine while he was here.

Party time!

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you…” The boys’ friends came over for their combined birthday party today and enjoyed a treasure hunt (the dastardly Cap’n Stonehead had stolen the toffee apples), various games and loads of home-made party food. And, of course, there had to be a birthday cake and singing, which the boys found both embarrassing and enjoyable.
