Paula and Andrew returned today to finish a couple of jobs that they hadn’t managed to fit in on Saturday - despite our efforts to persuade that they’d done enough already.
They weeded the gooseberries and tayberries before mulching them, then mulched the line of hawthorns planted on Friday, and then mulched and pruned a line of hawthorns that we planted last year.
As they downed a cuppa before leaving, Paula apologised for not being able to do more! And on top of that, she wouldn’t take anything in return for the help.
Well, Paula and Andrew, you’re definitely taking a big thank you and a lot of appreciation with you.

It sounds like an ideal situation, surrounded by friends. I expect they realise that when they need help, as we all do at some time or other, they will have some “on” on you and you’ll go and help them.
It reminds me of the way the Amish help one another. They don’t have insurance at all. If their barn burns down all the other families in the vicinity come and build a new one for them. I don’t know if they buy the wood themselves but the labour is all free. They all know that next time it might be their barn that goes!!!
I extend Stoney’s thanks and appreciation too Paula and Andrew.
