The Kangaroo arrives

The Winther Kangaroo trike arrived today - two days earlier than expected, an impressive result as it’s sent directly from the Danish factory.

We won’t be assembling the Kangaroo for a day or two, but I’ll do a full pictorial post on how we do it and any problems we find.

In the meantime though, I have to say the packaging was good while the build quality of the Kangaroo itself is excellent.

Different time zones, different realities

I had a journalist from the BBC telephone us just after lunch, wanting to do an interview about the rantings on this blog.

At the time, I was in the middle of baking prune flapjacks, keeping a small boy entertained, awaiting the delivery of the second boy on the school bus and keeping an eye on the Other Half (off sick today).

So, I politely told the BBC chap, “no thanks, too busy now but feel free to call back”.

Arctic ice sheet disappearing fast

Scientific observations of the Arctic have revealed the sea ice last month covered an area two million square kilometres less than the historical average.

To put that in perspective, that’s an area the size of Alaska.

The BBC has reported the latest data presented at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting suggested the ice was no longer showing a robust recovery from the summer melt. Read the rest of this entry »
