Steamed hoggett

I had a large flank of hoggett thawing for dinner tonight, which meant deciding how to cook it.

I could have stewed it or casseroled it, either of which give an excellent result when cooked long and slow.

In the end, though, I decided to go for a traditional British dish - steamed mutton, or in our case steamed hoggett.

I am one of the unworthy!

I’m not normally a reader of the Daily Mail, whose readership seems to consist of people somewhere to the right of Mussolini, but in researching another subject I came across a story with which I am in complete agreement.

Not only that, but it confirmed that I am indeed, one of the unworthy.
