No to green taxes

A four-page pamphlet dropped into the letter box this morning with an outline of what Gordon MSP Nora Radcliffe has been doing and plans to do.

It bears the heading “Focus Special Edition: Environmental Special Inside” and unlike most unsolicited mail, it did not go straight into the bin and was read with interest.

Now, before I write further, I’ll say that the Other Half and I have a lot of time for Mrs Radcliffe as she’s helped us on a number of occasions and been interested in some of the things I’ve had to say via this blog or via email. Read the rest of this entry »




Almost ready

As it’s been 20 days since we bottled the cider and a month since we bottled the stout, it was time to crack open the sample bottles and see how things were progressing.

Both have come along well and, while needing another six to eight weeks to be at their best, were very drinkeable even now.

The cider is a little sweet for my taste, but I wanted a batch ready for Christmas. I also wanted some cider that I could share with the Other Half and visitors with less robust tastebuds than mine. Read the rest of this entry »
