UK policy on air travel is nonsensical and contradictory

Environment Secretary David Milliband is doing the usual spin in advance by announcing the Government is considering “green taxes” to tackle climate change.

Why now? Because economist Sir Nicholas Stern’s review of the threat posed to the global economy is to be published on Monday, and so the Government wants to get in first to show that it is “doing something”.

Among the proposals being considered by the Government is a tax on cheap flights. Read the rest of this entry »
