Cold start

With morning temperatures now hovering around 4C, heavy dew and moderate winds, it was inevitable that the pigs would find something chilly and wet for me to do.

When I went out to feed the pigs this morning I discovered Doris and Delilah, two of our Berkshire gilts, had decided to have a play with their trough.

They’d hauled it out of the ground, tossed it around a few times and then happily trampled the already boggy ground into a thoroughly stinking bog, complete with a fair amount of pig manure.
