Heaviest snowfalls so far

Norman from across the road used his snowblower to clear a swathe of snow from the hardstanding in the steading yesterday.

It was prescient of him as we had so much snow overnight that it filled all the cleared areas to a height greater than yesterday after three days of snow.

40cm of snowThe flat areas of the steading now have at least 40cm of snow cover, while the drifts are between 1.5 and 2 metres deep.

I spent about an hour this morning digging out new paths to the woodstore, the hayshed, the byre and the road before trudging through the very deep snow behind the buildings to feed and water the animals. Read the rest of this entry »
