A Country Life

31 01 2006

I used to be a regular on the forums on the A Country Life website, but stopped posting after a long string of critical messages about what we’re doing here at Stonehead Croft.

A number of ACLers have asked why I won’t come back, so I thought I’d say why.

It’s like going to your favourite pub - there are dozens of regulars who you enjoy spending time with, swapping yarns with and generally being there for each other. But, when a small group decide to make life difficult, it spoils the whole feel of it and you stop going because it can never be the same again.

But even then, I was taking the time to occasionally pop in to ACL to collect messages from the regulars with whom I’ve formed friendships. However, it’s been pointed out to me that this is “rather odd” and some people have emailed me to say that there are objections to me using ACL as a messaging service.

As a result, I’m severing my ties to the ACL forums altogether and would ask ACLers who want to stay in touch to do so via this blog or other members who have my email address.

It’s a sad parting, as I did get a lot from ACL and enjoyed being part of the community for much of the time.

The OH and I are particularly appreciative of the support and help freely given by many ACLers throughout the water crisis. You can read their thoughts and messages of support in ACL’s forums.

I’d still recommend ACL to other people living the country life, but be aware that as with any group there are conventions as to what is an acceptable lifestyle and what is not. If your country life fits the ACL mould, then I’m sure you’ll find it extremely supportive and informative. However, it no longer works for me.

It’s a less interesting place without you.
